Mark Zuckerberg’s Journey to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, recently announced his accomplishment of achieving a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Zuckerberg began his training in jiu-jitsu and mixed martial arts (MMA). He expressed his gratitude towards his trainer, Dave Camarillo, for his guidance and support throughout the journey.

Zuckerberg’s interest in martial arts started during the pandemic when he decided to explore new ways to stay active and challenged. In an interview with podcaster Lex Fridman, he revealed that his early experiences in learning martial arts involved getting ‘beaten up a lot.’ However, Zuckerberg’s determination and perseverance led him to train in jiu-jitsu and MMA three to four times a week.

In September, Zuckerberg shared a video on Instagram where he showcased his skills by exchanging punches with fighter Khai Wu. The video received attention from various individuals, including MMA fighter Aljamain Sterling, who jokingly suggested that Zuckerberg might be ready for his UFC debut.

Zuckerberg’s dedication to jiu-jitsu was further demonstrated in May when he participated in his first jiu-jitsu tournament. He proudly announced his success in winning both silver and gold medals and expressed his gratitude towards his trainers for their support and guidance.

While Zuckerberg’s passion for jiu-jitsu continues to grow, there has been speculation about a potential cage fight between him and Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter. Although nothing has been confirmed, Zuckerberg’s commitment to his training indicates that he is not slowing down anytime soon.
