UFC is set to host the groundbreaking win-and-advance tournament, ROAD TO UFC, for the second time. This tournament will showcase the top mixed martial arts prospects from Asia as they compete for a chance to earn a coveted UFC contract.
ROAD TO UFC features four men’s divisions – flyweight, bantamweight, featherweight, and lightweight – with eight participants in each division. The tournament kicked off with the opening round at the UFC Performance Institute Shanghai on May 27 and 28. The semifinals will take place in Singapore on August 27 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, with the finals being featured as part of a UFC Fight Night card later in the year.
The tournament structure is designed to provide an opportunity for these promising fighters to showcase their skills and potentially secure a spot in the UFC. Each division’s winner will be awarded a UFC contract at the finals event. This is a significant milestone for these athletes, as it opens the door to compete on the biggest stage in mixed martial arts.
ROAD TO UFC Season 2 follows a format that includes three rounds: quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals. In the quarterfinals, there are four fights in each bracket, with the winners advancing to the semifinals. The semifinals consist of two fights in each bracket, and the winners move on to the finals. The finals will feature one fight in each bracket, taking place on the preliminary card of a UFC Fight Night.
Fans can catch all the action of ROAD TO UFC on various UFC broadcast partners across Asia. The episodes will air in primetime GMT +8, allowing audiences to get to know the athletes through in-event features and competitions. International viewers can also watch the events on UFC FIGHT PASS.
