Dillon Danis’ Departure from Bellator
After years of inactivity in MMA, Dillon Danis’ brief, albeit controversial tenure in Bellator has come to an end. The promotion recently made a series of roster cuts, and Danis was among those released. This news was first reported by MMA journalist Ariel Helwani.
Danis, known for his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu prowess, had not competed in Bellator since his first-round submission victory over Max Humphrey at Bellator 222 in 2019. In his professional MMA debut at Bellator 198, he defeated Kyle Walker with a toe-hold submission.
However, Danis faced multiple knee injuries and legal issues during his time with Bellator. Despite his potential as a welterweight star, his career was plagued by setbacks. In addition, he hasn’t fought in MMA since 2019 and recently made his professional boxing debut against influencer Logan Paul. Unfortunately, he lost by disqualification after attempting a guillotine choke late in the fight.
Adding to Danis’ troubles, he now faces financial uncertainty due to a lawsuit filed against him by Nina Agdal, Logan Paul’s fiancée. Agdal accuses Danis of harassing her through a series of social media posts.
While Danis has expressed interest in potentially joining the UFC for his next MMA chapter, it seems unlikely that the promotion will be interested in signing him at this time. As for Bellator, the future looks uncertain, and Danis will not be a part of whatever time the promotion has left.
