A new jiu jitsu facility, 10th Planet Reading, is hosting a grand opening event on April 21st. The event will include a ribbon-cutting ceremony, instructional seminars, and an open mat training session. Four jiu jitsu black belts will be hosting the seminars, and guests will have the opportunity to explore the facility and learn from top-rated instructors. Unleash Your Inner Warrior
A new jiu jitsu facility in Berks County is inviting community members to unleash their inner warrior through expert martial arts training. 10th Planet Reading, located at 547 Penn Ave. in West Reading, will be holding a grand opening event on April 21st. The facility offers jiu jitsu classes for children and adults of all experience levels.
The grand opening event will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11:15 a.m., followed by instructional seminars and an open mat training session. The seminars will be hosted by four jiu jitsu black belts: Ricardo Pena, Jon “Thor” Blank, Zach Maslany, and Rene Sousa. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced practitioner, you’re welcome to attend.
During the event, guests will have the opportunity to explore the state-of-the-art facility, learn from top-rated jiu jitsu black belts, and enjoy merchandise giveaways, light snacks, and refreshments. Even if you’re not familiar with jiu jitsu, you’re welcome to receive an introduction to the sport and observe or tour the facility.
10th Planet Reading is the brainchild of Ricardo Pena and Christopher Valverde, both Berks County locals and graduates of Reading High School and Wilson High School, respectively. Pena, a dual black belt, has over 20 years of grappling experience, including over 15 years of jiu jitsu, Division II NCAA wrestling, and professional mixed martial arts fighting. Valverde, a jiu jitsu purple belt, has over 12 years of grappling experience and has trained jiu jitsu for over eight years.
The facility, with its tagline “where warriors are forged,” boasts 1,800 square feet of mat space equipped with an impact-absorbing subfloor. It also features locker rooms and individual showers for students.
