Jose Aldo’s Comeback Fight

Jose Aldo, the former UFC featherweight champion, is set to make his return to the octagon after a two-year retirement. The highly anticipated fight will take place at UFC 301 in Rio de Janeiro on May 4. Aldo, 37, will face off against rising bantamweight contender Jonathan Martinez.

This marks Aldo’s first MMA fight since his loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 279 in August 2022. Despite the setback, Aldo had previously enjoyed a three-fight winning streak, defeating notable bantamweight opponents such as Marlon Vera and Rob Font.

Aldo’s retirement from MMA came in September 2022, following the birth of his son. However, the UFC granted him permission to compete in other combat sports. Aldo took advantage of this opportunity and participated in three boxing matches in 2023, winning two and drawing with fellow UFC veteran Jeremy Stephens.

With an impressive record of 31 wins and 8 losses, Aldo is widely regarded as one of the greatest featherweights in MMA history. He has faced off against legendary fighters such as Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, Conor McGregor, Frankie Edgar, and Urijah Faber.

UFC 301 will mark Aldo’s 40th professional MMA fight. His opponent, Jonathan Martinez, enters the matchup on a six-fight win streak, with victories over Adrian Yanez, Said Nurmagomedov, Cub Swanson, and Vince Morales.
