There is no denying that Yaroslav Amosov, the reigning welterweight champion of Bellator MMA, has one of the most impressive records in the sport. With a flawless 27-0 record in the leading mixed martial arts promotion, Amosov has defeated notable fighters such as Logan Storley, Roberto Soldic, Douglas Lima, and Erick Silva, among others.
But for Amosov, his perfect record doesn’t add any pressure. During the recent Bellator 301 press conference, he made it clear that his goal is always the same – to win.
"For me, it doesn’t matter. I have to fight, I want to win every fight," Amosov stated. "So being 27-0, of course, it’s good, but I want to win every fight. Because if you’re a fighter, you must win every fight. When I step into the cage, my focus is always on victory."
Despite his dominance in Bellator, Amosov is ranked #6 in ESPN’s welterweight rankings worldwide. Positioned between Gilbert Burns at #5 and Shavkat Rakhmonov at #7, Amosov firmly believes he is the number one welterweight fighter.
"I’m number one," Amosov confidently declared. However, he acknowledges that other fighters, like Jason Jackson, may have the same belief.
"I think if you’re a fighter, you think ‘yeah, I’m number one, I must win every fight against every fighter,’" Amosov explained. Jackson, on the other hand, disagreed and stated that he can only claim the top spot by defeating Amosov.
The highly anticipated Bellator 301 event is set to take place at the Wintrust Arena in Chicago, IL on Friday, November 17, 2023. The main event will feature Yaroslav Amosov defending his title against Jason Jackson.
