After he was defeated at UFC 242 main event agains Khabib Nurmagomedov, Dustin Poirier released a video in which he said that he is not sure is he ever going to fight again. That loss against Khabib shook him mentally, but as a warrior as Dustin is, he shook it of and called out Conor McGregor by tweeting this:

I think me and Conor running it back makes a lot of sense at this point.

Irishman wanted to have a rematch with Khabib in Moscow, he tweeted “Book my rematch for Moscow” immediately after Khabib vs Poirier fight:

But looks like that is not going to happen, next in line for Khabib should be Tony Ferguson – according to Dana White.

Callout from Dustin could not stay unanswered, here is what he tweeted:

I fed you to the canvas in 90 seconds bro. You should have spoke my name with a bit more respect in that build up. “McGregor’s not next” Motherfucker, it’s McGregor always! McGregor is the goal! Always! Say that now and I’ll think about it. #GoneIn90seconds #NicCage #AJolie

Being realistic, this fight makes a lot of sense, Conor stated couple of times that he would like to get back in cage but who should he fight? Khabib is not interested in rematch, Ferguson is most likely fighting Khabib next, Cerrone and Gaethje will fight this weekend and there is not many options for him. Another interesting name, beside Dustin, isPaul Felder who defeated Edson Barboza as co-main event at UFC 242.

So, for McGregor fighting Dustin Poirier makes more sense in this point in time, Dustin is ranked 2 and if he win again, he would be candidate for a title shot again, while fighting Felder could not bring him up on rankings.

Current rankings in lightweight division loos like this:

CHAMPION
KHABIB NURMAGOMEDOV

1 Tony Ferguson
2 Dustin Poirier
3 Conor McGregor
4 Donald Cerrone
5 Justin Gaethje
6 Al Iaquinta
7 Paul Felder
8 Kevin Lee
9 Edson Barboza
10 Anthony Pettis
11 Gregor Gillespie
12 Charles Oliveira
13 Alexander Hernandez
14 Islam Makhachev
15 Dan Hooker
