John Kavanagh, Conor McGregor’s main coach was a guest at Joe Rogan Experience show where he talked about fight between Khabib Nurmagomedov vs Conor McGregor.
Together with Kavanagh, guest was George Lockhart – man in charge for Conor’s weight cutting.
Talking about the fight preparation, Kavanagh said the camp was focus on defending Khabib’s takedowns:
If there’s one thing I could change it’s I was too defensive in my mindset
Talking about the fight itself he explain the game plan:
1st round – make him pay, do our best on the way in and if we get down just try to play guard without spending too much energy
2nd round – “same plan, do as much damage as we can, but if we ended up on our back – do not put huge amount of effort to get up he is absolute master in re-grounding people
3rd and 4th round – plan was to watch him slow down, defend his take down and start landing shots
Kavanagh also talked about the things happened after the fight, and he said it was not a big deal what Khabib done, but those two guys who jumped in the cage and attacked Conor from the back, they should be punished for that and this punish should be example to not do it for anyone who would like to jump in cage and attack someone.October 9, 2018 Tags: Joe Rogan, John Kavanagh
