Sixteen students from Burns School of Black Belts have qualified to represent Team GB at the World Traditional Kickboxing & Karate Association Unified World Championships in Italy. Lewis Stubbs, a dedicated 15-year-old kickboxer, is excited about the competition and the benefits kickboxing has brought him. The school and families are working together to raise funds for the students’ trip, showcasing the supportive and united spirit of the community.

Sixteen talented martial artists from Burns School of Black Belts have earned the opportunity to compete at the World Traditional Kickboxing & Karate Association Unified World Championships in Carrara, Italy. These young fighters are now actively fundraising to cover the costs associated with the event, showcasing their dedication and passion for their sport.

Road to Success

Lewis Stubbs, a 15-year-old kickboxer from Wallsend, expressed his excitement and determination to perform at his best in the upcoming competition. Having trained diligently since 2019, Lewis highlighted the physical and social benefits he has gained through kickboxing, emphasizing the sense of community and purpose the sport has provided him.

Support and Unity

Gemma Stubbs, Lewis’ mother, praised the positive impact kickboxing has had on her son, acknowledging the role of Burns School of Black Belts in shaping Lewis into the individual he is today. Rick Burns, the school’s founder, commended each student’s exceptional skills and stressed the significance of this opportunity as a unique and invaluable experience.

Fundraising Efforts

With each student facing a cost of approximately £1,250 for the trip, the school and families have come together to organize various fundraising activities, such as cake sales and a sponsored kick-a-thon, to ensure that every deserving martial artist can participate in this prestigious event.
