Conor McGregor Under Investigation
Mixed martial arts fighter, Conor McGregor, is currently under investigation by An Garda Siochana for alleged incitement. The investigation comes after a night of violent clashes between Gardai and members of the public in Dublin last week. McGregor, a former undisputed lightweight and featherweight champion in the UFC, has been criticized for his comments on Irish immigration policy, which were described as ‘absolutely disgraceful’ by Irish Tanaiste and Minister for Defense and Foreign Affairs, Micheal Martin.
Amidst nationwide criticism for his comments, McGregor is now officially under investigation by An Garda Siochana. The investigation was first alluded to by the Garda Commissioner and is part of three major investigations being undertaken by Gardai since last Thursday. The other two investigations involve a horrific stabbing incident and the riots that took place in Dublin city center.
McGregor’s Controversial Tweets
Prior to the official investigation, McGregor’s tweets were being examined by Gardai. These tweets are now being looked at as part of the criminal investigation. The Garda Commissioner is also seeking the help of police in the UK to enhance CCTV footage and other clips in order to potentially make arrests.
Serious Concerns for Victim’s Health
The stabbing incident resulted in three children and a creche worker being stabbed. The man responsible for the attack is currently in a coma in the hospital. One of the victims, a 5-year-old girl, remains in critical condition with serious concerns for her health going forward.

Gardai are also tasked with investigating numerous social media posts by various individuals, including McGregor. These posts are being examined for alleged incitement and violence.
