Nine-Year-Old Alaina Stout to Compete at GAMMA World Championships
Alaina Stout, a nine-year-old girl from Bartlesville, is set to represent the USA at the GAMMA World Championships in Greece. The Global Association of Mixed Martial Arts (GAMMA) event will take place in September. However, the biggest challenge now is finding sponsors to fund Alaina’s trip. Alaina, known as ‘The Enforcer,’ is excited about her first jet flight and is eagerly looking forward to competing in Greece, her favorite place for MMA. She has been researching the country online and watching informational videos.
Before the championships, Alaina will be participating in the Texas Youth MMA State Championship in Azle, Texas. This young fighter has already traveled extensively, from Arkansas to California, and now to Texas. Alaina’s father, Houston Stout, has made sure that these trips are not only educational but also enjoyable for his daughter.
Alaina’s journey in MMA began in mid-spring 2023 when she won the MMA national co-ed title for ages 8-9 at the GAMMA Junior National Championships in Little Rock, Ark. She defeated three boys to claim the crown. Later, she competed in an international kids’ MMA co-ed tournament in Ontario, Calif., where she faced tough male competition while battling illness.
Turning ten in September means Alaina will compete in the girls-only division at the world championships in Greece. She has an impressive track record against other girls, with only a few losses out of 50 matches since she started training and fighting five years ago.
The GAMMA World Championships in Greece will feature full MMA fights, with the exception of head strikes. Alaina and her fellow competitors will be able to use arm bars, chokes, punches, and kicks to subdue their opponents. Alaina will be part of the GAMMA Team USA representation.
The history of mixed martial arts dates back over 2,500 years to Olympia, Greece, where the precursor to modern MMA, called pankration, was introduced in the 648 B.C. Olympic Games. Pankration included elements of boxing, wrestling, kicking, holds, and chokes, much like the sport today. Alaina, a young gladiator from Bartlesville, continues this ancient tradition by showcasing her skills in the modern MMA arena.
