#10: Luis Elias Snags A Calf Slicer
Luis Elias maintained his perfect finishing rate by submitting Angel Muñoz in their 130 lbs. catchweight bout at Ultimate Warrior Challenge 45. The 30-year-old absolute lit Muñoz up with strikes late in the third round before Elias ended things with a calf slicer when the Mexican dove for a desperate takedown.
#9: Bo Nickal Does It Again
The UFC elected to keep Bo Nickal in the opening slot for the UFC 290 main card even after his original opponent pulled out, and the decorated wrestler made the most of the spotlight with another first-round finish. The 27-year-old showed that he’s clearly been working on his striking when he battered the debuting Val Woodburn to secure the win in just 38 seconds.
#8: Sean Pero Folds Molano
Sean Pero extended his undefeated record by stopping Andres Molano in his promotional debut at Fusion FC 63. The 24-year-old worked Molano to the fence late in the first round before landing a vicious body kick that left the Colombian writhing in pain.
#7: Dricus Du Plessis Shocks Whittaker
Dricus Du Plessis secured a middleweight title shot and defied the odds when he stopped Robert Whittaker on the main card of UFC 290. “Stillknocks” rocked the former champion with a right hand in the second round and never gave Whittaker any space to recover with his onslaught of follow-up strikes.
#6: Miguel Porto’s LFA Debut
Miguel Porto’s promotional debut saw him score an upset victory over the previously undefeated Rafael Tobias at LFA 162. The 26-year-old countered a Tobias jab with a brutal combo before diving in to land a nasty follow-up hammer fist for good measure.
#5: Robbie Lawler’s Perfect Sendoff
Robbie Lawler closed out his legendary career with arguably the best retirement fight in MMA history against Niko Price. “Ruthless” closed as the underdog at UFC 290, but Lawler treated fans to one last knockout when he crumpled Price with punches in less than a minute.
#4: Márcio Barbosa Floors Prado
Márcio Barbosa rebounded from a loss to current UFC featherweight Gabriel Santos by scoring a fantastic first-round knockout against Wellington Prado at LFA 162. “Ticotô” had Prado retreating just over halfway through the first round when he suddenly leapt forward with a left hand that forced the referee to jump in and end the fight.
