AEW’s Jake Hager Retires from MMA

AEW’s Jake Hager has officially retired from the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) after a challenging journey with promotion ‘ Bellator MMA .’ Hager, who signed with Bellator MMA in 2017, had a successful run with the promotion, competing four times and remaining undefeated with a record of 3-0-1.

However, it has been almost three years since Hager last stepped into the Octagon, leading to speculation about his future in MMA. During a recent virtual signing event for K&S WrestleFest, Hager confirmed that he has decided to retire from MMA and will now focus solely on his wrestling career.

Hager expressed his frustration with Bellator, stating, ‘Officially, I’m retired from MMA. I trained hard last year, but Bellator was jerking me off. I retired and I am now just focusing on wrestling.’

With his MMA career behind him, Hager will now dedicate his time and energy to his career in All Elite Wrestling (AEW). In 2021 alone, Hager has already competed 13 times for AEW, with a current record of 4-9.

Hager’s most recent appearance in AEW was in the All Out Zero Hour battle royale, which was ultimately won by ‘Hangman’ Adam Page. While Hager has faced some recent losses, his most recent victory came in April during a six-man tag-team match.

As Hager bids farewell to MMA, fans can expect to see him continue to make an impact in the world of professional wrestling as he focuses on his AEW journey.
