Danielle Kelly’s Historic Journey

Danielle Kelly is on the verge of making history in the world of mixed martial arts. As the first-ever One Championship women’s atomweight grappling titleholder, Kelly is set to take on her longtime rival, Jessa Khan, in an anticipated rematch at ONE on Prime Video 14 on Sept. 29.

Kelly (2-0-1 ONE) has been preparing for this momentous occasion since her last victory over Ayaka Miura at ONE Fight Night 7. She has meticulously studied Khan’s previous matches, expecting her to be aggressive and utilize the cage to her advantage.

While Kelly’s focus has primarily been on no-gi grappling, she also expressed her desire to compete in gi tournaments to broaden her competition experience. This versatility has even sparked thoughts of a future transition into mixed martial arts.

"Right now, I’ve been focusing on getting this title match with Jessa, and when I win, I will decide if I want to have a fight or two in MMA," Kelly revealed. "I definitely want it. There are negotiations to be had, but eventually, I would like to step into the MMA world. That’s why I started jiu-jitsu, to fight back against bullies. Although my old coach guided me towards gi and no-gi, the thought of competing in MMA has always been there. Right now, my main focus is on my no-gi matches and accomplishing the goal of winning the title."

This historic clash between Kelly and Khan is set to captivate fans worldwide, as two fierce competitors go head-to-head in a battle for the ages. Stay tuned for the highly anticipated ONE on Prime Video 14 event on Sept. 29, where history will be made.
