COMBATE GLOBAL has announced an exciting women’s flyweight MMA main event matchup between Alejandra ‘Azul’ Lara and Gisela ‘La Emperatriz’ Luna. The event will also feature a featherweight co-main event between Mauricio Rios and Tony ‘The Conqueror’ Cortez. Don’t miss this action-packed night of fights on May 11!
Exciting Women’s Flyweight MMA Main Event
COMBATE GLOBAL has just announced a thrilling new women’s flyweight (125 pounds) Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) main event matchup. Former world championship challenger Alejandra ‘Azul’ Lara (9-7) will face off against nine-time kickboxing champion Gisela ‘La Emperatriz’ Luna (5-1). The event will be broadcast live on Fuse at 9:30 p.m. ET from Miami on Saturday, May 11.
This exciting matchup comes after Lucero ‘La Loba’ Acosta had to withdraw from the fight due to a fractured meniscus. Luna, a 32-year-old from Buenos Aires, Argentina, will make her COMBATE GLOBAL promotional debut. She brings an impressive resume, including nine regional kickboxing championships and an outstanding overall record of 36-3-1 in kickboxing.
Lara, a 29-year-old from Medellin, Colombia, is looking to return to the win column after teaming up with 10th Planet San Diego Jiu Jitsu and Training Center. She has faced off with world-class opponents such as Ilima-Lei Macfarlane and Lena Ovchynnikova.
In addition to this main event, there have been some changes to the COMBATE GLOBAL card. Ovidio Bojorquez had to bow out of his welterweight fight due to a hand injury. Jimmie ‘Jimbo Slice’ Pace, Jr. will now face unbeaten knockout artist Jaden Ortega in a 175-pound catchweight contest.
The co-main event will feature a featherweight matchup between Mauricio Rios and Tony ‘The Conqueror’ Cortez. Rios, a member of the Bonebreakers fight squad, has earned three of his four professional wins by submission. Cortez, on a 10-fight win streak, looks to keep his perfect record intact.
