The 39-year-old fighter retired from active competition after a series of losses in the MMA octagon. Since then, Masvidal has been organizing boxing and MMA events through his Gamebred Bareknuckle promotion. However, the desire to compete has never left him, and he has recently confirmed that he will be stepping back into the cage.

The next event, taking place in Orlando, Florida, will feature the inaugural Gamebred Bareknuckle Heavyweight title fight between former UFC champion Junior dos Santos and veteran Alan Belcher. Both fighters are coming off decision victories in their previous bouts.

In an interview with FanSided, Masvidal stated, "I never just talk. When I say something, I back it up 100 percent. I am definitely unretired and ready to hurt some people. I will be boxing this year and then giving my all in the cage. I can’t end my career on a loss. It haunts me and hurts me. So, I’m coming back to rearrange someone’s face, or faces."
