While De La Hoya acknowledges the financial benefits, he also sees the promotional value in the lead-up to the fight, particularly due to his ongoing rivalry with UFC president Dana White. In fact, De La Hoya even suggests the possibility of a co-main event between himself and White. Garcia, who shocked everyone with his proposal to fight O’Malley in a mixed martial arts format, would become the first notable boxer to enter the octagon since James Toney’s defeat in 2010.
