Savannah Marshall, the current female Super-Middleweight boxing champion, is set to make her mixed martial arts (MMA) debut at PFL Europe on June 8, 2024, in her hometown of Newcastle, England. The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has announced that Marshall will headline the event in a Lightweight fight against an opponent to be revealed later.
Marshall, with an impressive record of 13-1 and 10 knockouts, signed with PFL in Aug. 2023, shortly after winning her titles. While her only defeat came at the hands of Claressa Shields, who also competes for PFL, the promotion is focused on Marshall’s transition to MMA before a potential showdown with Shields.
PFL CEO Peter Murray expressed excitement about Marshall’s debut, stating, "The Professional Fighters League prides itself on having the best athletes in the world on its roster, and on June 8, PFL welcomes boxing world champion and combat sports icon Savannah Marshall to the SmartCage for her MMA debut, where she will compete in front of her hometown fans in Newcastle."
