The Epic Rivalry Continues
The rivalry between two MMA legends, Quinton "Rampage" Jackson and Wanderlei Silva, is far from over. With a 2-2 record in their four-fight series, there is still a burning desire to face each other inside the octagon.
Silva, 47, hasn’t stepped into the cage since his knockout loss to Jackson in September 2018. On the other hand, the 45-year-old Jackson has only fought once after that, suffering a TKO defeat against Fedor Emelianenko in December 2019. However, Jackson is set to make his boxing debut against Shannon Briggs in Qatar on June 1, 2024, before returning to MMA for a clash with Darrill Schoonover in the United Fight League (UFL). He then plans to seek rematches with Rashad Evans and Silva.
Upon hearing about Jackson’s combat roadmap, Silva responded by accepting the challenge and confidently stating that he would defeat Jackson once again. Jackson, however, was not pleased with Silva’s comments.
"I can’t believe Wanderlei said that," Jackson expressed. "I might have to talk to Rashad Evans. I might have to teach Wanderlei a lesson. I’m going to beat him up for saying something like that. It was totally disrespectful. When I called him out, I did it respectfully. After I knock Shannon out, I’m going to ask if I can beat Wanderlei next. I want to fight him in Qatar."
The rivalry between Jackson and Silva reignited when Silva was announced for induction into the UFC Hall of Fame. Although Jackson didn’t specify whether he wanted a fifth fight with Silva in MMA or boxing, it’s clear that the two had a conversation when they met at the Honda Center.
"I want to document the whole training camp," Jackson revealed. "I would love to do the training camp in Qatar. I want to get my mind right, train there, and connect with the people. I want to be like Rocky Balboa, running and training through the city. I want the fans to support me there, and when I knock out Wanderlei, it will be my greatest achievement. After that, I never want to see him again, unless it’s on my podcast and I ask him how it feels to be knocked out by his arch-enemy."
