Angela Lee Retires from MMA
Former atomweight MMA champion Angela Lee has officially announced her retirement from the sport. After an eight-year run with ONE Championship, Lee decided to step away from the octagon. This decision comes nine months after the tragic passing of her sister, Victoria Lee, who was also an aspiring MMA fighter.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour, Lee expressed that although things will never be the same, she has no regrets and cherishes the memories of her time at the top of the sport. She acknowledged that her heart is no longer in it and believes that retiring is the right decision.
Lee’s focus now shifts to FightStory, a non-profit mental health organization that she started in honor of her late sister. FightStory aims to empower fighters from all backgrounds to share their stories, inspire hope, and create a supportive community for mental and physical wellness. The organization encourages individuals to speak their truth and break the stigma surrounding mental health.
