Former bantamweight champion, Ronda Rousey, has been urged to consider a return to the UFC by current number one ranked contender, Julianna Peña.
Peña, who headlined a UFC 277 pay-per-view event in July, suffered a unanimous decision loss to Amanda Nunes in their title rematch. Rousey, on the other hand, has been focusing on professional wrestling after suffering a TKO loss to Nunes in 2016.
Recently, rumors of Rousey’s potential return to the Octagon have been circulating. Although Rousey has confirmed that she is not currently considering a comeback, Peña believes that she should seriously think about it.
In an interview with MMA Fighting, Peña expressed her hope for Rousey’s return. She stated, "She’s another who’s had an ass-whooping coming to her for ten years, same as Raquel (Pennington). So, let’s go." Peña also mentioned that she occasionally watches Rousey in professional wrestling, but doesn’t follow it closely.
Peña herself is expected to compete in an upcoming vacant bantamweight title fight. She has been linked to potential matchups against Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva, who recently secured a second-round guillotine win against former champion Holly Holm.
