Nurmagomedov expressed his confusion about the decision to make the Gaethje vs. Holloway fight, stating, ‘All respect for Max Holloway, but I don’t understand why the UFC made this matchup. It makes no sense in my opinion. Holloway should be fighting [Ilia] Topuria next, possibly in September. Justin Gaethje is scheduled to face Islam in May or June, and Tsarukyan vs. Oliveira is set for April. The winner of Islam vs. Justin Gaethje should be facing the winner of Tsarukyan vs. Oliveira.’
