PFL Announces Launch of Bellator Champions Series

The Professional Fighters League (PFL) has unveiled its plans for the Bellator MMA promotion with the launch of the Bellator Champions Series. This global franchise will consist of eight events featuring top fighters from the Bellator roster defending their titles against the best fighters in the world. The series will kick off with Bellator 302 on March 22, 2024, headlined by a Light Heavyweight title fight between Corey Anderson and Karl Moore. Additionally, the PFL announced that all events will now stream on DAZN. In addition to the Champions Series, the PFL will continue to operate with its season format and will host champion vs. champion mega events, with the first one taking place on February 24, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Bellator 302 will also feature a women’s Featherweight rematch between Leah McCourt and Sinead Kavanagh, giving McCourt another opportunity to prove herself against Kavanagh who previously won by unanimous decision at Bellator 275 in February 2022.

The first event, Bellator 302, is scheduled for March 22, 2024. The PFL also announced that all events will now stream on DAZN.

PFL CEO Peter Murray expressed excitement for the new era of MMA, stating, "The Bellator Champions Series will feature reigning Bellator Champion fighters defending their titles against the best fighters in the world from the star-studded Bellator roster. Fans will have access to the best competition and the most innovative formats in MMA distributed by leaders in sport including DAZN."

In addition to the Bellator Champions Series, the PFL will continue to operate as a separate entity with its season format. However, there will be opportunities for the best fighters from PFL and Bellator to compete against each other in champion vs. champion mega events. The first such event is set to take place on February 24, 2024 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Bellator 302 will also feature a co-headlined women’s Featherweight rematch between Leah McCourt and Sinead Kavanagh. McCourt, who was hoping to secure a title fight against Cris Cyborg, will have another chance to prove herself against Kavanagh, who won their previous encounter by unanimous decision at Bellator 275 in February 2022.
