Empower Yourself with Self-Defense Skills

Are you looking to feel safer and more confident in your everyday life? Join us at Brazos Valley MMA for a free women’s self-defense seminar on Saturday, Feb. 24 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. This seminar aims to equip women with essential self-defense techniques to protect themselves in any situation.

In recent years, the need for self-defense has become increasingly evident due to the rise in sexual assault cases. We believe that every woman should have the knowledge and skills to defend herself, which is why we have been offering these free seminars since 2023.

Why Attend the Seminar?

Walking alone at night can be intimidating and unnerving. We understand the fear and vulnerability that many women experience, which is why we want to empower you with the tools to feel safe and secure.

Maggie Loop, a participant in our previous seminars, shares her experience, "I used to feel anxious walking to my car at night, but after learning self-defense techniques, I feel more confident and prepared."

Learn from Experienced Coaches

Our self-defense classes are led by experienced coaches like Dimitri Westbrook, who recognized the need for self-defense training in our community. Dimitri explains, "When there’s a rise in sexual assault cases, it’s crucial to provide a solution. Our classes incorporate Mixed Martial Arts and Jiu-Jitsu, focusing on techniques that are easy to learn and apply for anyone."

Alarming Statistics

According to the University of Texas at Dallas, two out of five women in Texas reported a sexual assault between the ages of 18 and 24 in 2023. Locally, the numbers are equally concerning:

  • SARC assisted 490 survivors, with 337 cases in Brazos County.
  • The Bryan Police Department reported 60 sexual assaults.
  • The College Station Police Department reported 96 sexual assaults.

Empowering the Community

Maggie Loop emphasizes the importance of feeling safe not just for individuals but for the entire community. She says, "Our goal is to spread a sense of safety and security throughout our town, so everyone can feel protected in their own homes and neighborhoods."

Don’t miss this opportunity to learn valuable self-defense skills and gain the confidence to protect yourself. Join us on Saturday, Feb. 24 at Brazos Valley MMA, located at the River Oaks Mall in College Station. Together, let’s create a community that stands strong against assault.
