The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to close out its 2023 schedule with a bang as UFC 296 takes place tonight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The highly anticipated event will feature a thrilling headlining bout between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington for the UFC Welterweight Championship. This will be Edwards’ second title defense, and Covington is hoping to secure his first undisputed UFC gold.

In the co-main event, Alexandre Pantoja will face off against Brandon Royval in a flyweight title fight. These two fighters previously met in 2021, with Pantoja emerging victorious via submission in the second round. Now, Royval is seeking redemption and aiming to dethrone Pantoja.

Another exciting matchup on the main card is between Shavkat Rakhmonov and Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson. Rakhmonov, who boasts an unbeaten record, will look to continue his winning streak against the two-time title challenger Thompson.

Additionally, former interim champion Tony Ferguson will be in action as he tries to snap his seven-fight losing streak in a showdown with Paddy Pimblett. Both fighters are hungry for a victory and will leave it all in the Octagon.

Unfortunately, the main card did suffer a setback with the withdrawal of the Ian Machado Garry vs. Vicente Luque bout. However, fans can still look forward to an exciting preliminary card opener between Josh Emmett and Bryce Mitchell.

All fighters scheduled for UFC 296 have successfully made weight for their respective bouts, ensuring that the event will proceed as planned. The action kicks off with the early prelims on UFC Fight Pass at 6:30 p.m. ET, followed by the preliminary card on ESPN2 and ESPN+ at 8:00 p.m. ET. The main card, which includes the highly anticipated Edwards vs. Covington title clash, will be available exclusively on ESPN+ PPV starting at 10:00 p.m. ET.
