YPSILANTI, MI — The community of Ann Arbor and Ypsilanti is coming together to honor the life of Milton Page II, a talented pianist and MMA fighter who tragically passed away. Page, 34, was swimming with friends in the Huron River on July 4 when he went underwater and didn’t resurface for several minutes. Despite efforts to save him, Page was pronounced dead at the University of Michigan Hospital the following day.

Born in Monroe and a graduate of Milan High School, Page was well-known for his love of Mixed Martial Arts and boxing. He was a member of the Bushido MMA gym in Ypsilanti and had a passion for training and competing in the octagon. To honor his memory, Page’s family is raising funds to establish a scholarship for aspiring MMA fighters.

In addition to his athletic pursuits, Page was also a talented musician and played the piano. He had a deep appreciation for the arts and attended Washtenaw Community College and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. Page’s friends and loved ones remember him as a shining light and a true artist.

To pay tribute to Page, local businesses in Ann Arbor have created special initiatives. Side Biscuit, a popular restaurant, has developed a unique sauce called Milton’s Extra Spicy Buffalo in honor of Page. The sauce was featured on several menu items, with a portion of the proceeds going towards Page’s funeral costs. The Last Word, a sister bar of LIVE Ann Arbor where Page worked, also featured the sauce and catered the wake and repast.

Chef Jordan Baldulf of Side Biscuit expressed his admiration for Page, describing him as a big supporter of the restaurant and a joy to be around. The community engagement initiative aims to honor Page’s memory while raising funds for his family. The Last Word’s staff, including chef Tyler Wykoff, who had a close relationship with Page, helped cater the repast for his funeral. Wykoff described the experience as a true act of love and an opportunity to honor Page and his family through food.

Nate Coleman, a friend of Page and former chef at The Last Word, shared his heartfelt sentiments about Page’s impact on those around him. Coleman described Page as a golden soul who pushed everyone in his life to be better. The loss of Page has deeply affected the community, and many have expressed their condolences and support for his family.
