Joshua Pacio’s Road to Redemption

This Friday, October 6, Joshua Pacio, the former ONE strawweight MMA world champion, will face a tricky test in his promotional tenure at ONE Fight Night 15. He will go up against Mansur Malachiev, the No.5-ranked contender, in a pivotal showdown that could potentially determine Jarred Brooks’ first assignment as the divisional king.

In an interview with South China Morning Post, Pacio expressed his belief that this match should be considered a title eliminator contest. He stated, "Yes, of course [this match should determine the next challenger]. I was supposed to be fighting Bokang. But they gave me Mansur. So whoever wins this match deserves a title shot." Watch the interview here.

While Pacio is focused on defeating the Dagestani grappling ace, he has his sights set on a much bigger goal. He wants to avenge his loss to ‘The Monkey God’ and reclaim the divisional king title. Pacio said, "Here we are again. I’m fighting for redemption. I hope if I win this match, it’s going to be Jarred Brooks again." He lost his crown to Brooks in a grueling five-round battle at ONE 164 in the Philippines last December. Now, with a rematch on the horizon, Pacio aims to eliminate any threat that Malachiev presents on his way to a second fight chapter alongside Brooks.

The entire October 6 event will be available to fans in North America with an active Amazon Prime Video subscription, live in U.S. primetime.
