ONE Championship’s Plan to Refocus on MMA in 2024
ONE aims to bring MMA back to the forefront of their product in 2024. They plan to host a record number of events in various countries. This aligns with the PFL’s advancements and the upcoming UFC antitrust lawsuit trial. MMA fans can expect exciting changes and new players in the game next year.

In the upcoming year, ONE Championship, the Singaporean promotion, is set to bring mixed martial arts (MMA) back to the forefront of their product. After a relatively quiet year in 2023, ONE aims to make a strong comeback in the MMA market .

To conclude 2023, ONE will have hosted 12 ‘Fight Night’ events, similar to UFC’s Fight Night events. However, their focus was primarily on their talent feeder product called ‘Friday Fights,’ which is primarily Muay Thai based. They successfully organized an impressive 44 events under this brand.

During 2023, ONE took a back seat to the UFC and PFL in the MMA market . However, according to ONE Chairman Chatri Sityodtong, 2024 will be different. Sityodtong stated, "You’re going to see MMA back in full force. ONE Friday Fights and the Muay Thai product are very much on firm footing… We’ve firmly established we have the No. 1 striking property on the planet. The focus will be sharply back onto mixed martial arts."

ONE Championship plans to host a "record high number of events" in 2024, with venues in the US, Qatar, Japan, and the Philippines. This is great news for ONE’s roster of MMA fighters, as their contracts don’t allow much flexibility to explore other options.

The timing of ONE’s plans aligns with the PFL’s advancements in the MMA industry and the highly anticipated UFC antitrust lawsuit, which is scheduled for trial in early 2024. These developments indicate that the MMA landscape will see some exciting changes and new players entering the game next year.
