Pitt Wrestler Geoff Magin Set to Take on Top Ohio MMA Fighter

Pittsburgh, PA – This Saturday, July 15, Pitt redshirt junior wrestler Geoff Magin is set to face off against Ohio MMA fighter Nick Nash in a highly anticipated light heavyweight bout. The fight will take place at Brawl in the Burgh 17, held at the Monroeville Convention Center.

Magin, a native of Sewickley, PA, has been training diligently for this match, which could be the biggest fight of his amateur MMA career. After leaving Franklin & Marshall to focus on MMA training, Magin has fought in three previous matches, winning two and losing one.

The sport of MMA, which stands for mixed martial arts, combines various fighting styles including grappling, striking, and ground fighting. It draws techniques from combat sports such as boxing, wrestling, kickboxing, ji-jitsu, karate, and judo.

Magin’s opponent, Nick Nash, is a well-known fighter in Ohio and poses a formidable challenge for Magin. However, Magin is confident in his abilities and believes he is superior to Nash in every aspect of the fight game.

In preparation for the bout, Magin has been training extensively with the Pitt wrestling team and at the Stout PGH gym. He has also competed in the USA Wrestling National U-23 trials, showcasing his skills against some of the country’s best wrestlers.

Magin’s strength lies in his striking ability, which he combines with his wrestling expertise to create a lethal fighting style. He is determined to give his all in this fight and is aiming for a decisive victory.

The Pitt wrestling coaching staff, including head coach Keith Gavin, has been supportive of Magin’s foray into MMA. They have allowed him and fellow Pitt wrestler James Lledo to pursue their passion for fighting alongside their wrestling careers.

Magin’s teammate, James Lledo, will also be fighting on the same card, facing off against Manuel Bell in his third amateur MMA fight. Magin and Lledo have been training together and pushing each other to improve.

The anticipation for this fight is high, and fans are eager to see Magin and Nash go head-to-head in the cage. Magin is focused on giving his best performance and securing the victory.
