A young mixed-martial artist, Braeton Lawton, is venturing into the business world with the opening of a new MMA and boxing gymnasium in Gloversville. Lawton, who plans to open the facility by late April or early May, aims to provide a space for aspiring fighters, particularly young kids. The gymnasium, named PowerHouse Boxing & MMA, has already garnered interest from over 15 individuals. Lawton, a recent high school graduate, will run the gymnasium with his fiancé, Lexi Dutcher, who will oversee operations during the day. Lawton, who works as a bridge welder, will join in after work. The gymnasium will offer classes for children, teenagers, and young adults, and Lawton also has plans to introduce a women’s self-defense class. With the support of EmpowHERing Designs, Lawton secured a space near the city’s historic Four Corners. The training center has received approval from the Gloversville Planning Board. Lawton is excited about the venture and is looking forward to the grand opening of PowerHouse Boxing & MMA.
