The Fastest Knockout in MMA History
When we mention a quick knockout, Jorge Masvidal and his fight against Ben Askren in just five seconds comes to mind. He set a record in the UFC, but such fast knockouts are still rare in today’s MMA. However, last night we may have witnessed the fastest knockout in MMA history. Titan FC 83 took place at Gulfstream Park in Hallandale Beach, and the event was unremarkable until the main event of the evening.
What happened in the main fight is likely something historic. Luis Hernandez faced Brian Toppa in the welterweight category, and the fight lasted literally one second. As soon as the bell rang to start the round, Hernandez (3-0 MMA) landed a high kick on Toppa (1-5 MMA), instantly knocking him out. It seems that Hernandez is not a fighter who likes to spend much time in the cage.
This 26-year-old fighter has finished all of his previous fights in the first round, even when he was still an amateur. His professional debut lasted only 65 seconds, and his second match lasted just over three minutes. But this time, he set the bar high by knocking out his opponent in the first second of the fight.
