Jarred Brooks, also known as "The Monkey God," is set to prove himself as the top competitor in ONE Championship. He is not limiting himself to just one sport and will be challenging Mikey Musumeci for the ONE Flyweight World Championship at ONE Fight Night 13: Allazov vs. Grigorian. The highly anticipated event will take place on Friday, August 4, at the iconic Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand.

Brooks has been dominating ONE’s strawweight mixed martial arts division since his debut in 2021. With an unbeaten record of 4-0, including a decisive win over Joshua Pacio to claim the World Title, he is eager to showcase his skills in a new weight class and discipline.

Moving up a weight class and transitioning to submission grappling, Brooks understands that Musumeci operates on a different level. Despite the shorter preparation time, Brooks remains confident and promises to put on a show for the fans.

"I felt like I would’ve had six months to get ready for Mikey," Brooks said in an interview with ONE Championship. "It was a little bit sooner for me, but the whole world can see even on three weeks’ notice that I can go in and possibly beat the best submission artist ever."

Musumeci, who has been perfect in ONE Championship with dominant victories over all his opponents, has been open about his struggles with depression. While respecting Musumeci’s journey, Brooks is focused on building his own legacy in ONE and aims to score a dominant win on August 4.

"He’s a great kid. He’s somebody that I look up to and that everybody else should look up to in the industry. But I know he has his tics. So we’ll see when he grapples with me how he feels about that," Brooks commented.

If Brooks can secure a victory over Musumeci and claim the flyweight title, he believes it will open doors for him to participate in mixed-rules contests and further establish himself as a top contender in ONE Championship.
