The weigh-ins for the 2023 PFL Playoffs 3 took place on Tuesday, and while the card remained intact, there were a couple of hiccups. Two fighters competing on the event failed to make weight, resulting in fines and potential consequences for their upcoming bouts.
Carlos Leal, who was set to face Sadibou Sy in a welterweight semifinal bout, missed weight by 1 pound. Similarly, John Caldone, who was scheduled to fight Nathaniel Grimard in a featherweight bout, missed weight by 2.6 pounds.
As a result, both fighters will be fined 20 percent of their purse. Additionally, if Leal’s fight goes to the judges, he will receive a point deduction. Despite these setbacks, the rest of the fighters, including the seven others in the playoffs, successfully made weight for their respective bouts.
The 2023 PFL Playoffs 3 will take place on Wednesday at The Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York. The main card will be broadcasted on ESPN and streamed on ESPN+, following the prelims on ESPN+.
