Conor McGregor dismisses the idea of Dustin Poirier being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame. Read more to find out McGregor’s reasons and share your opinion.
Former two-weight champion, Conor McGregor, has expressed his disagreement with the suggestion that his arch-rival, Dustin Poirier, should be inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame . McGregor, who has been recovering from a leg injury since his last fight in July 2021, believes that Poirier has not achieved enough to deserve such recognition.
McGregor’s recent loss to Poirier at UFC 264 resulted in a fractured tibia and fibula, forcing a doctor’s stoppage in the first round. This defeat followed his knockout loss to Poirier in January of the same year. Meanwhile, Poirier himself suffered a devastating knockout loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 291.
Taking offense to the suggestion made by MMA reporter Ariel Helwani, McGregor took to Twitter to voice his opinion. He pointed out that Poirier has never won an undisputed title and has a record of 0-3 in title fights. McGregor believes that Poirier’s only significant win over him was when he was already being dominated in the cage, and the second win came as a result of McGregor’s leg injury.
Furthermore, McGregor criticized Poirier for not accepting a fight against Nate Diaz, despite Helwani suggesting that it should be his next matchup. McGregor believes that Poirier’s previous encounter with Diaz, which ended in a loss, disqualifies him from being considered for the UFC Hall of Fame .
The question remains: Do you agree with Conor McGregor’s assessment of Dustin Poirier?
