Conor McGregor’s Frustrations with the UFC

The strong bond between Conor McGregor and Dana White seems to be fading now. For years, McGregor was the biggest superstar in the UFC, bringing unparalleled financial success to the promotion. However, things seem to be changing now.

‘The Notorious’ has been out of MMA action since his injury in 2021. Now, he has set his eyes on a grand return to the Octagon. However, McGregor’s comeback fight hasn’t been officially announced yet, and the Irishman is growing impatient now.

Recently, Conor McGregor appeared at ‘The Day of Reckoning’ professional boxing event. There, he appeared in a short and candid interview with TalkSport and revealed his frustrations with the UFC. Apparently, the Irishman is not getting a satisfactory response from the Dana White-led promotion and is unhappy about it.

“The lads in the UFC aren’t really talking any,” he said. Moreover, the former UFC champion also hinted at entering boxing since UFC is not giving him a fight.

“Give me something. I am supposed to be back in April. It was supposed to be December.”

This is not the first time Conor McGregor has accused the UFC of mistreating him. A few years ago, much before his UFC 257 fight against Dustin Poirier, ‘The Notorious’ made some similar accusations against the promotion.

According to the former double champ, Dana White’s promotion was not giving him regular fights. However, past records may say otherwise. The Irishman fought twice in 2021 before being seriously injured. Going backward, he also fought once at the beginning of 2020 (against Donald Cerrone). While it is right that McGregor waited a year after this fight, we all must remember that external factors like the COVID pandemic played a big role in it.

Moreover, the Irishman has also gotten special privileges from the UFC several times. He was granted a chance to become a double champ without even defending his featherweight title once! Further, ‘The Notorious’ was also allowed to participate in a boxing match against Floyd Mayweather.

Last but not least, McGregor is paid rightfully, unlike any other UFC star, because of his popularity. Taking all this into consideration, it does not seem like the Irishman is treated badly at the UFC.

You can love Conor McGregor, or you can hate him. But you cannot deny that when it comes to selling a fight, nobody is better than the ‘Mystic Mac’.

As we get very close to UFC 300, the Irishman’s fight announcement might also just be around the corner. Moreover, his recent statements about the UFC might just be one of his uncanny promotional tactics! Fans still remember how he announced his retirement in the past, only to return to the Octagon shortly after.
