UFC featherweight Giga Chikadze has announced on social media that he will not be able to compete in his scheduled bout against Josh Emmett at UFC 296 later this month. Chikadze revealed that he has suffered a torn groin, forcing him to withdraw from the 145-pound bout. The UFC has yet to announce a replacement for Chikadze.

The fight between Chikadze and Emmett was set to take place on the undercard of UFC 296 on December 16th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. However, due to Chikadze’s injury, the matchup will no longer happen.

Emmett, who is currently 0-2 in 2023, expressed his desire to remain on the card and called for a new opponent. The 38-year-old fighter is looking to turn his year around and secure a victory.

Despite his recent losses, Emmett is still ranked as the No. 6 featherweight in the UFC. He entered 2023 on a five-fight win streak and even competed for an interim title against Yair Rodriguez in February.

Chikadze, hailing from Georgia, is currently ranked No. 8 in the featherweight division. He holds an impressive record of 8-1 in the UFC.
