Jon Jones Supports Israel Adesanya’s Decision

Jon Jones, the former UFC light heavyweight champion, expressed his support for Israel Adesanya’s recent decision to take a break from fighting. Adesanya, the ex-UFC middleweight champion, announced that he will not be competing for a long time after losing his belt to Sean Strickland at UFC 293. Jones, who understands the benefits of an extended break, praised Adesanya on Twitter.

In his tweet, Jones wrote, "Hey [Stylebender], I just want to let you know I support your decision to take a break from fighting. Taking those last three years off was one of the best decisions I’ve made. Always put YOU first brother. Protect your heart, protect your mind [and] spirit. Proud of you champ."

Jones, who returned to the Octagon after a three-year absence, claimed the vacant heavyweight crown by submitting Ciryl Gane at UFC 285. He is set to defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 on Nov. 11.

The rivalry between Jones and Adesanya has been well-documented, with the two fighters engaging in social media feuds over a hypothetical bout. However, they recently buried the hatchet during International Fight Week, finding common ground as competitors.

Adesanya has not provided a specific timeline for his return to the Octagon, but it is unlikely to be in the near future.
