Manon Fiorot came into UFC Fight Night in Atlantic City on Saturday without a defeat in the franchise, and she continued her unbeaten streak against Erin Blanchfield in their flyweight tie in New Jersey. In the co-main event, men’s welterweights Joaquin Buckley and Vicente Luque went almost two rounds before Buckley forced a stoppage to earn a victory.

UFC Fight Night in Atlantic City saw its headline event end with Manon Fiorot dominating Erin Blanchfield over five rounds on Saturday night. The franchise decamped to New Jersey as it continued its tour around American cities outside of its usual Apex venue in Los Angeles. Ahead of the fight, Blanchfield was ranked No. 2 in the women’s flyweight division, and Fiorot started as No. 3, meaning the winner was likely to be given a shot at the title later in the year.

Alex Grasso is the current champion at the weight after she defeated Valentina Shevchenko last year. Fiorot was convincing in her win as she won all five rounds on all three judges’ scorecards to pull off a one-sided upset. Speaking through a translator after the fight, she made it clear she was coming for the belt.

"I fought everyone in the category already, I want the title, that’s it," she said. Shevchenko is the current No. 1 to rival Grasso and a trilogy rematch looks likely, but after her win Fiorot looks to be in line for a challenge for the championship. The French fighter’s victory ended a nine-fight win streak for Blanchfield, who had not tasted defeat since her narrow defeat to Tracy Cortez back in 2019, and it represents her first defeat under the UFC franchise umbrella. For Fiorot, she maintains her blemish-free UFC record after seven fights.

In the co-main event directly before the headliner, welterweight Joaquin Buckley impressed in his win over Vicente Luque. Buckley looks to have settled well at 170lb and was on the front foot throughout, as he earned a stoppage at 3:17 in the second round as he started to threaten with his opponent on the ground. Speaking after the fight, Buckley praised his opponent for taking on the challenge.

“They done messed up and gave your boy a ranking!” he began. “On the road to gold. Everybody that I called out, never wanted to give me the opportunity, but Vicente was the only one. Nothing but love for that man. Anywhere we want to take it, I can get you out of there. I was just smiling. All he was doing was covering up. I was landing, I was landing. I just kept punching.”
