UFC middleweight contender Khamzat Chimaev has announced that he will be undergoing surgery in the coming weeks. This decision comes after Chimaev suffered a torn ligament in his right hand during his recent fight against former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Chimaev shared the news on his Instagram Live, stating, ‘I’m going to do a surgery, operation in one, two weeks. After that, do the recovery, come back, smash somebody.’ Although representatives for Chimaev have not provided further details, it is expected that his recovery will take place in the first quarter of 2024.

The 29-year-old fighter, who was born in Chechnya and currently trains in Sweden and Dubai, has been highly regarded as a title prospect in the UFC.
